Scion’s National Art Tour INSTALLATION 5: Self Portraits Set To Arrive In Phoenix

Los Angeles –January 2008 – Scion’s Installation 5 Art Tour will arrive in Phoenix,AZ on February 6th after completing a successful stint in Miami during the world-renowned Art Basel in December. The Phoenix event is set to be equally momentous as it takes place during Phoenix’s First Friday art walk and will expose Installation 5 to the 12 000+ art lovers that this monthly event attracts. The opening reception will take place from 6pm – 10pm at Perihelion Arts, P610 E. Roosevelt, Unit 137, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Artists Kofie and Skypage will be in attendance and music will be provided by D-JR. This stop of the tour is the first to feature video art.

The fifth installment of Scion’s Installation Art Tour was launched in October 2008. The program is designed to give exposure to both established and emerging artists. Installation 5: Self Portraits highlights a diverse array of artists from around the world and will visit nine cities in total including Miami, New York, Portland, Minneapolis, San Jose, and Los Angeles. The tour kicked off in Detroit, a brand new market for Installation and will pass through two more first-time markets - Phoenix and Washington D.C.

For Installation 5 each artist was asked to create his or her literal, or non-literal interpretation of the theme 'Self-Portraits'. Video art will be included for the first time in the tour’s five-year history, alongside painting and photography. Artists on the tour will include: AJ Fosik (3-D painting), Alex Hornest (painting), Andrew Schoultz (painting), Andy Howell (painting), Angela Boatwright (photography), Asylm (painting), Blek le Rat (painting), Christina M. Felice (photography), Codak (painting), David Choe (video art), Edwin Ushiro (painting), El Yem (video art), Eriberto Oriol (photography), Eye One (photography), Francesco LoCastro (painting), French (painting), Geoff Oki (video art), Ian Lynam (video art), J. Shea (painting), Jamel Shabazz (photography), Jeff Soto (painting),Kelsey Brookes (painting), Kofie (painting), Lisa Alisa (painting), Logan Hicks (photography), Mark Mothersbaugh (rug), Nicholas Harper (painting), Patrick Martinez (painting), Peter Beste (photography), RETNA (painting), Rick Rodney (photography), Rob Abeyta Jr. (painting), Ron English (painting), Saber (photography), Sage Vaughn (painting), Skypage (painting), Stormie Mills (painting), Tessar Lo (painting), Too Tall Jahmal (photography), Usugrow (painting), Will Barras (painting), Yoskay Yamamoto (painting) and more. As the tour travels, more artists will be added to the roster.

The final tour stop will be at Scion’s own 4,200 square foot Installation L.A. gallery space where all artwork will be auctioned off to the public, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward art-related charities and non-profits. Last year’s Installation 4 tour raised over $50,000 on behalf of Art From Scrap, an organization encouraging creative expression in the arts and promoting a greater understanding of environmental issues. Over the last four years Scion’s Installation tour has raised more than $190,000 for art-related non-profit organizations.

Launched in 2003, Scion Installation is a revolutionary art tour affirming the brand’s ongoing commitment to support independent artistic expression and featuring work from an unprecedented collective of contemporary artists, designers and photographers. Scion's National Art Tour - INSTALLATION 4: It's A Beautiful World -Concludes in Los Angeles with Show and Live Auction

Los Angeles - April 2008 -Scion's Installation 4, "It's A Beautiful World," opened in Los Angeles, the last of nine cities on the national tour, on May 10th. More than 800 people attended the opening night festivities, including most of the artists. The innovative Scion Installation Art Tour launched its fourth installment last July and features a diverse array of artists from around the world. The theme, "It's a Beautiful World," was interpreted by each artist, in one of four mediums— painting, photography, sculpture, and collage. The culmination of the tour is accompanied by a live auction where all of the artwork will be auctioned off to the public, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward art related charities - This year's recipient: Art From Scrap, an organization encouraging creative expression in the arts and promoting a greater understanding of environmental issues: http://www.artfromscrap.org. In previous years, the auctions have raised more than $110,000 for charity.

This year's artists include: Andrew Pommier, Andy Mueller, Angela Boatwright, Blaine Fontana, Blek LeRat, Books llll, Caia Koopman, Chris Yormick, Cody Hudson, Dalek, David Choe, Eye One, Francesco LoCastro, Freddi C, J. Shea, James Jean, Jeff Soto, Joshua Krause, Kelsey Brookes, Kenton Parker, Kofie, Mel Kadel, Michael Sieben, Mike Giant, Rammellzee, RETNA, R. Grimes, Ron English, Sam Flores, Sage Vaughn, Skwerm, Tim McCormick, Travis Millard, and The London Police.

The auction will be held in Los Angeles, at the Scion Installation L.A. space in the Culver City Arts District on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 4pm - 7pm (auction begins promptly at 5 pm), as well as online and on phone lines. Located at 3521 Helms Ave. (at National), Culver City, Calif., 90232, the gallery will also host all the artwork during the 3rd Annual Culver City Artwalk happening Saturday, May 31st.

Also on display were the custom designed Scion art cars from Dalek, Sage Vaughn, and Ron English.

Los Angeles - March 2008 - Scion's Installation 4, "It's A Beautiful World," will open in Minneapolis, one of nine cities on the national tour, on April 4. The innovative Scion Installation Art Tour launched its fourth installment last July and features a diverse array of artists from around the world. The theme, "It's a Beautiful World," was interpreted by each artist, in one of four mediums- painting, photography, sculpture, and collage.

Some of this year's Installation artists include: Andrew Pommier, Andy Mueller, Angela Boatwright, Blaine Fontana, Blek LeRat, Books llll, Caia Koopman, Chris Yormick, Cody Hudson, Dalek, David Choe, Eye One, Francesco LoCastro, Freddi C, J. Shea, James Jean, Jeff Soto, Joshua Krause, Kelsey Brookes, Kenton Parker, Kofie, Mel Kadel, Michael Sieben, Mike Giant, Rammellzee, RETNA, R. Grimes, Ron English, Sam Flores, Sage Vaughn, Skwerm, Tim McCormick, and Travis Millard.

Scion Installation 4 will be hosted by Minneapolis' Rogue Buddha Gallery (www.roguebuddha.com) April 4-19, 2008. The opening reception will take place on April 4 from 7 - 11 P.M. at 357 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN, 55413 with musical entertainment from DJ Kool Akiem and DJ Jonathan Ackerman.

The final tour stop and auction will be held in Los Angeles, at the Scion Installation L.A. space in the Culver City Arts District May 10 - June 2, 2008. All of the Installation 4 artists will attend the opening night of the show on May 10. The exhibit will be on display for the annual Culver City Art Walk on May 31. The live auction will take place on June 1, at the Scion Installation L.A. Space, as well as online and on phone lines. All of the artwork will be auctioned off to the public, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward art related charities. In previous years, the auctions have raised more than $110,000 for charity.
