REBECCA & DREW HOST EMERGING ARTIST ARI TABEI

When each bit of publicity counts, budding artists are lucky to receive nourishment from the Sprout Emerging Artist Competition, recently founded by Bard Graduate Center graduates Amy Sande-Friedman and Anna Hoffman Steinhardt along with Drew Paluba of Rebecca & Drew Manufacturing, whose West Village boutique displays the winner's work. Exhibition space isn't the only thing up for grabs, as winners also benefit from the de facto endorsement of judges from the Guggenheim, the Met, and Pace Wildenstein. Starting next week, the Rebecca & Drew boutique will host a show appropriate for a company that sells women's shirts: photos and videos of the Snuggie-like "cocoons" woven and worn by contest winner Ari Tabei.
